Spam Siteseer enables the user to be notified, by system tray icon, when a web page has changed. The program is best suited for checking web sites that have sent you (possibly unsolicited) e-mail containing links to their web site. Such e-mails are sometimes known as "spam". With Spam Siteseer, one is relieved of the burden of frequently checking websites for new, updated, or revised products and prices with each e-mail spam advertisement received.
As a side effect of many users using the program in earnest, an e-mail spammer may experience an inordinate amount of traffic to his spam advertised website. Millions of e-mails could potentially produce millions or even trillions of website visits. Some might consider the increased website traffic to be a good thing for nuisance spammers. This is because a large amount of traffic can increase a spammer's operating costs. Website traffic may be his only direct and consequential cost to spamming. Sending e-mail has essentially zero cost.
The program is operated by loading it with a list of HTTP web link URLs, setting the polling rate, and then clicking the Start button. The program is a sort of page auto re-loader but also looks for page changes. This is a convenience for the consumer of advertised products. Changes is advertised prices can be easily found once website page changes are brought to the consumer's attention.
